The Capital Quest | UAE’s Burjeel Holdings targets up to $3.3 bn valuation in IPO

The UAE-based healthcare services company Burjeel Holdings has set a AED2.00-2.45 ($0.54-0.67) per share price range for its initial public offering (IPO) in which it will offload an 11% stake.

This price range implies a valuation of between $2.7 billion and $3.3 billion, Burjeel said in a statement. The offer size will be between $300 million and $368 million.

Once listed, Burjeel Holdings will become the first private company to go public in the UAE in 2022.

The company’s IPO follows share sales by at least three state-run companies in Dubai.

The healthcare service provider says it is looking to strengthen its balance sheet via the IPO.

Dubai government-owned road-toll operator Salik Company PJSC floated its $1-billion IPO earlier this month. Power and water utilities company DEWA and the Tecom Group went public earlier this year.

The IPO comes less than two weeks after Dubai-based diversified investment firm International Holding Co (IHC) said it was acquiring a 15% stake in Burjeel for an undisclosed amount.

Burjeel manages 61 facilities, which include 39 hospitals and clinics across the UAE and Oman. The company, which was founded in 2007, is also reportedly planning to invest up to $1 billion in Saudi Arabia via joint ventures and public private partnerships.

The company will list its shares on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, will have its subscription period run from Friday to Monday. The final offer price will be determined through a book building process on October 5.

The shares will begin trading on October 10.
